ModCloth Uniquely You Polyvore Challenge!

I was contacted last week by a lovely lady named Amy at Modcloth, about a weekly polyvore storyboard challenge. As I've been pretty lax in the blogging stakes as of late, I figured why not, plus I had forgotten how much I love playing with polyvore!

Each week a selection of bloggers is given a dress to style showing our individual style using the lovely accessories from ModCloth's site. The first dress given was the Vivacious and Vibrant Dress in Noir, which I adore! Thankfully it is available in plus sizes too. Come on black and white with those cute shoulder details, this one is right up my street. Though I was initially thinking of going full goth I was caught by some of the gorgeous, whimisical Alice in Wonderland inspired pieces in ModCloth's range.

The dress could be read as very formal and I wanted to take it in a different direction, to make a whimsical, doll-like feel to the look. As soon as I saw these cute, bow false lashes I knew I had to pick out the red with something else and the backpack was too adorably Alice for me not to add it. I've always loved Alice in Wonderland, the books, films, cartoons and this was my inspiration for this board. I think I was a little literal, but hey, there is a place and time for subtlety, but it is not when you're playing dress up!

How would you style this dress?

OotD: SeaPunk

Velour High Neck Check Dress ~ SimplyBe via blog sale
Crochet Socks ~ ASOS
Spiked Headband ~ ASOS
Black & White Platform Mary Janes ~ Demonia
"I'd Rather Drown" Necklace ~ Earl Foolish
Lipstick ~ Hipster Ariel by Geek Chic Cosmetics

It was hot on whatever day we took these, so that's my reasoning for my squinty, pinched expressions and general grumpy-looking-ness.

I bought this in a blog sale from the lovely Mhaira of Lilybobombs! I've been debating on this ever since it came out, so glad I got it for a great price, though its such a lovely dress I probably wouldn't be too mad paying full price. It was way too warm for the day I chose to wear it, but when its cooler, I can see myself wearing it a lot.

Last OotD I said I wanted to take some more unflattering shots, well here's some sideways action as well as some big fat arms and stomach.

I've been looking for some cute Mary Janes for so long. I bought a incredibly similar pair from TUK, but they were just too small. As a size 9, it is hard to find shoes for my aesthetic, I'd never checked Demonia before despite seeing them around in alternative fashion circles. Now I want all of them! These shoes are wonderfully comfortable, so much that these might be slightly too big for my fat feet. They are so adorable they might as well be dolly shoes.

I was feeling very cute, this was one of those outfits that kind of sprung out of my mind as soon as I saw the dress. I am really into shades of blue at the moment, probably because I spend so much time on tumblr and follow many mermaid obsessed people. Also, check out this necklace, perfection!
