OotD: Summer Gothic

Today has been a pretty good day, I won the Black Hearts Creatives necklace giveaway, had some really good customer service from Domino Dollhouse and went for a lovely breezy, summer walk with my mum and the dogs.

Green Polka Dot Peter Pan Collar Dress ~ Domino Dollhouse
Lace Cuffed Bike Shorts ~ Allihalla
Creepers ~ Underground UK
Cat Ears Headband ~ ASOS
Fake Gauge Earrings ~ ASOS
Black Lipstick ~ Pristine by Illamasqua

Yesterday one of the pieces I have been waiting for came out at Domino Dollhouse, the Zippered Full Skirt, which I wanted very badly. As a UK resident buying from America can be expensive, especially as there are a few more pieces from Nuclear Seasons that I want. I commented on DD's facebook page to this effect and I had an immediate, very friendly response.

I then emailed them & was told that I could have these pieces held and sent with the other pieces I want when they come out. As Domino Dollhouse is a indie company this first part still has to be paid for when you order it & you receive a refund on delivery saved when you order the second time, but  I think this is a fantastic service, especially for those of us who are not lucky enough to live in the States.

I have to stay I was totally thrilled with with the warm and geniunely helpful respone I got. Customer service can so often be frustrating, but not in this case. I was so happy that I realised I really don't showcase my Domino Dollhouse pieces here enough, thus today's post.

I was feeling a little witchy today, so I decided to have a picture taken with my black dog as I don't have a black cat. ;p

Fairly proud of my cat eyeliner, so I decided to become a cat for the day.

Then I decided to be a dinosaur and my mother captured this:

Why, yes, I am technically an adult, in body, but never in spirit!

Hope you all had a wonderful day.

Marvelous Mondays: Inspired by Each Other

Welcome to the another instalment of Marvelous Mondays, a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers.

Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.

Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

Theme of the Week: Inspired By Each Other

Leather Jacket ~ Florence & Fred
Black Skater Skirt ~ ASOS Curve
Wings T-Shirt ~ ASOS Maternity
Brown Boots ~ Next
Locket Necklace ~ Vintage
Feather Bracelet ~ Made by me
Lipstick ~ Sweet Tart Revlon  Lip Butter

This week the theme is an outfit based on another blogger from the challenge, I was assigned Jocelyn from Fat, Fashionable and Feminist. I loved this theme as I think it will show the diversity we have in this challenge. As a group I think we have a great variety of styles that show that plus size/fat women are not one homogeneous group we're interesting individuals with eclectic styles.

One of the things I love about Jocelyn's style is that she chooses very classic pieces and adds edgy touches, she has some really fab leather pieces. She also has a lot of great shoes, so I brought out these heels I haven't been able to wear since I broke my ankle. I only wore them for about ten minutes and I was like a baby dear!

Though Jocelyn wears more colour than this I hope I did a good job capturing her style.

I got this t-shirt recently and I'm in love! I've never bought something from the maternity section of a store before, mainly out of embarassment, but this was too cute to pass over. Also, if you're shaped like I am with your weight mainly being around your stomach maternity shirts fit really well. This is an 18 and fits with room to spare.

I should have taken better pictures of my make-up as I used the free sample of Benefit "They're Real!" mascara I got with Elle magazine. It is amazing! I am sold and will be buying the full one when my maybelline runs out.

Note

If you are here from beaute-test.com or any other forum where people are using my pictures to ridicule me, please know that I am a human being with feelings. It hurts me to see people picking me apart for my physical appearance and what I decide to wear.

I know by putting photos up that there would be backlash because I am not conventionally attractive, but why attack someone based on something as superficial as their looks?

So, please, if you are here to attack me, turn around, click somewhere else, do not lash out at me, deal with your anger another way.

Thank you.

Marvelous Mondays: Inspired by a Childhood Picture (Stand in Post)

Sorry, no real Marvelous Mondays post from me yet, hopefully I'll get one up for the end of the week.

I will show you one way I would have done this challenge if I had the money to buy new clothes though!

Look how cute and threatening I looked as a child. Plus socks & sandals, breaking fashion rules even as an infant!

Marvelous Mondays: Metallics

Welcome to the another instalment of Marvelous Mondays, a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers.

Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.

Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

Theme of the Week: Metallics

Gold Paint Splash Leggings ~ Asos Curve
Gold Glitter Skater Skirt ~ New Look Inspire
White Blouse ~ Evans via eBay
Black Waistcoat ~ Thifted
Golden Olive Ballet Flats ~ Long Tall Sally
Watch ~ Marc Ecko
Lipstck ~ On The Town by Topshop

Wish I'd worn foundation, but I am so very lazy with make-up at the moment and I'm trying to be more confident about my "problem" skin.

Sorry the light in this pictures came out a bit bizarre I'm not used to it being this bright! I have close ups that came out well though.

I actually haven't worn these leggings for ages despite them being firm faves of mine. They fit perfectly, are super comfy and stylish, but this creepy, old guy in my college refered to them as "sexy stockings" and the appeal floated away! But I'm not going to let anyone take away my love of flashy clothes that easily.

I think maybe I should have gone with my more signature dark lipstick, but hey experimentation is fun. Still loving my fuzzy haircut.

I'm in love with this waistcoat, I've been looking for one everywhere. I think if you're looking for something specific you should check everywhere in a charity shop, this was part of a 3 piece top, waistcoat & scarf. I believe it was marked just L, which usually I would ignore, but I'm glad I gave it a go.

I was wary about these shoes, I was originally going to wear my Doc Martens with silver pattern to make the outfit a bit more edgy and me, but I found these this morning so I went it. Glad I did because they're lovely and comfy for summer.

Mad dogs & English women!

52 Lists: List The Things You Should Be Proud Of

I've been away from my weekly blogs for a while due to bad news, college woes and depression issues, but I am back and will be trying to be a more active blogging presence. This was also a hard list for me because I'm naturally someone who undersells themselves, so asking me what I'm proud of? It flusters me, but now is not the time to be humble. Perhaps I should practise talking about my achievements?

  • Impressive a-level & GCSE grades
  • Distinctions in my current course
  • My creativity
  • I know myself, my limits and I respect those limits
  • I was strong enough to ask for help
  • I left university when it was too much
  • I have a talent that I am pursuing
  • Over the past few years I have begun a journey of body & self acceptance
  • I experiment with my style even when society tells me I should disappear
  • I teach myself new things (e.g knitting, jewellery techniques, recipes, crafts, etc)
  • I'm a good listener
  • My intellectual curiosity
  • The way that I think, which is very out of the box
  • I do not drink too excess (or at all recently) despite my background
  • My ability to laugh at myself
  • I embrace the things that make me different
  • My passion for art, literature, intersectional feminism & social justice
  • I am a fighter
  • Despite all the odds I am surviving & growing as a person

Marvelous Mondays: Nature Inspired

Welcome to the another instalment of Marvelous Mondays, a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers.

Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.

Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

Theme of the Week: Nature Inspired

Pansy Print Trousers ~ Clements Ribeiro for Evans
Sheer Pleather Collar Shirt ~ New Look Inspire
Black Bra ~ Marks & Spencers
Spike Earring ~ Topshop
Green Lip Tar ~ Botanical by OCC Cosmetics

Yes, your eyes are not mistaken I have indeed shaved half my hair off, more actually because the other side is shaved too!

Now where exactly is the nature in this outfit? Pansy print on my trousers, as pansies are my favourite flowers, my lip tar is called Botanical and the sheer is from those amazing translucent animals, like sea angels. Here is a cool article about transparent creatures.

I also thought I'd bring in the nature with my backdrop. I love my mum's garden and now its spring its starting to get lovely and colourful.

It is so hot and bright out that I forgoed shoes today, I'm going to pretend its a part of a nature inspired hippy vibe I'm channeling. :P

Last Marvelous Monday I didn't feel up to going sheer without a camisole, but this week I pushed myself a little. Plus its sweltering, so less layers = necessary.

On the weekend my brother got out the clippers and helped me remove a great deal of my hair. Strange seeing as I've been talking about growing out my hair for over a year, well long hair just didn't feel very me. It was like I'd lost my personal style a little, so I decided to be brave and go for the shaved sides/undercut that I've been secretly obsessing about for months.

I feel quite inspired to push myself & do things I've been wanting to do for ages, but keep putting off. So this week I hope to be getting my spetum pierced!

Some better pictures of my make-up, which is not bad for me! Haha.

Want to see more pictures of my new haircut head over to my instagram page! I have a good phone finally, so I'm updating a lot more, add me if you have an account.
