OotD: Enid Coleslaw Again?!

Dino T-Shirt ~ New Look Inspire
Check Skirt ~ Next
Leggings ~ New Look Inspire
Pleather Waistcoat ~ New Look Inspire
Creepers ~ Underground
Lipstick ~ Charmed, I'm Sure by MAC (Marilyn Monroe collection)

A few weeks ago for Marvelous Mondays our theme was "Inspired by a Fictional Character" and I chose Enid Coleslaw from Ghost World in her punk rock outfit, but I was conflicted on the day because I also have a dead ringer for the outfit on the DVD cover. So I give you once again an Enid Coleslaw inspired outfit!

I love this outfit and I'd love to have an exact copy of that skirt as I cannot get enough check patterns at the moment!

I wish I had the time today to do my hair, put some more make-up on and find a cute hair clip, but I was busy, so this is what you get!

My mother said I look somber in photos, so silly faces abound!

This lipctick is perfect by the way. Its even better in person, I have small, thin lips (sexy, I know) and this totally disguises that fact. Its also a great feel on the lips, not too dry or too slippy and its stays on forever. I adore red lipstick and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to wear it now I have green hair without looking like a christmas tree, but I think I could rock this. :)

Hope you guys are going to have a great Easter. I have three weeks off college, I don't know what I'll do with myself!

Marvelous Mondays: Pencil Skirt

Welcome to the fifth installment of Marvelous Mondays, a weekly blog challenge between myself and three other fabulous fatshion bloggers. Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.

Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

This week’s theme: Pencil Skirt

Pink Top ~ Domino Dollhouse
Houndstooth Pencil Skirt ~ ASOS Curve
Black Denim Jacket ~ New Look Inspire
Black Leggings ~ New Look Inspire
Creepers ~ Underground
Cross Bones Brooch ~ Made by me
Cookie Monster Bow ~ OldFamiliarWay on etsy
Lipstick ~ 92 by Barry M

I think I wore this pencil skirt 2 weeks ago for this challenge, but I cannot find my tartan pencil skirt, so I just styled this one up a little differently to last time. More colour, bit quirkier and less strictly gothic. Hope you like it!

I'm in love with this top, so I'm suprised that I haven't worn in on here before. Its super comfy, yet doesn't feel like just a t-shirt, plus I quite like it with my hair at the moment.

How cute is this bow?

OldFamiliarWay on etsy has some fabulous stuff, right now she's discontinuing some of her badges before she brings out new stuff, so if you like something buy it now!

Marvelous Mondays: Obviously A 1977 Original Punk Rock Look.

Welcome to the fourth installment of Marvelous Mondays, a weekly blog challenge between myself and three other fabulous fatshion bloggers.

This week’s theme: Inspired by a Fictional Character
I love this week's theme! I thought about it all week and I came up with a few options. I had an Alice in Wonderland outfit, a Sherlock Holmes look and even considered Daenerys Targaryen or Melisandre from the A Song of Ice and Fire book series.
Then it came to me. Who has green hair, wears kick ass electic clothes and has been a star of both a graphic novel and a 2001 movie?

Leather Waistcoat ~ New Look Inspire
Scribble T-Shirt ~ New Look Inspire
Leather Trousers ~ Geico via Gray & Osbourn
Boots ~ Doc Martens
Bracelets ~ eBay
Lipstick ~ Heart Hangover by MAC

Yep, that's right, I've been inspired by Enid Coleslaw of Ghost World!

Specifically, Enid after she dyes her hair green and dresses up like a punk. I'd have prefered if I had some white docs or creepers with this look, but I think I did pretty well. Also, originally I was going to wear red lipstick like Enid does at other points in the movie, but it looked really clownish on me, so back to my dark lippy roots.

This outfit was a lot of fun to put together and wear. I also really recommend at least checking out Ghost World the movie because it's brilliant, it had two of my favourite actresses, Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson, as cynical teenage weirdos trying to figure out life post-high school and stay entertained in their run of the mill town. It also has a wonderful part played by Steve Buscemi.

The graphic novel by Daniel Clowes is brilliant, all of his work is, but Ghost World really spoke to me as I first read it as an apathetic teenage misfit, but reading as I got older I could see even more layers in it and its definitely something I'll go back to every couple of years.

As sson as I dyed by hair green I went into my brother's room and told him "Its' obviously a 1977 original punk rock look." one of my favourite of Enid's lines.

Can't wait to see what the other Marvelous Monday ladies have come up with as this was a bit of a departure from our normal themes. I do like a bit of a conceptual or abstract look at clothing and fashion, so I hope that comes through this week.

Inspiration Strikes: Tropes vs Women in Video Games

No longer going to lie to you guys by calling these posts "Weekly Inspiration", they're never weekly and it just makes me feel bad when I don't post someting every week, from now on these will be titled "Inspiration Strikes".

Feminist Frequency: Tropes vs Women Damsel in Distress Part One.

Oh Anita Sarkeesian, if I didn't love you before just because you annoyed MRAs (Men's Rights Activists) so much, then I defnitely love you now. I'm really excited about these videos, I think video games are a ripe place for discussion and analysis when it comes to feminism. This first video starts to looks at the Damsel in Distress trope that has plagued games since the very beginning, I love how well researched and informed this video is. You can really get into it with absolutely no previous knowledge and yet even seasoned gamers will learn something new for sure. :)

And yes I have named this outfit post after a Bowie song for this shirt and added a little green to the mix.

Usually I don't show pictures of a side or back view of my outfits because one of the areas on my body I have problems loving is my back & my smile, which is why in photos I'm usually facing forward and poe faced!

A million selfies because I love my hair colour with this purple lipstick its very Hulk chic. ;)

How are you lot doing then?

Marvelous Mondays: Spikes/Studs

Welcome to the third installment of Marvelous Mondays, a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers.

This week’s theme: Studs/Spikes

Pansy Print Dress ~ Clements Ribeiro for Evans
Pleather Stud Jacket ~ Gerry Webber (very old!)
Leggings ~ Florence and Fred (Tesco's)
Velvet Creepers ~ Agyness Deyn for Dr. Martens
Spike Headband ~ Domino Dollhouse
Bag ~ Lazy Oaf
Lipstick ~ Underworld by Illamasqua

Originally I was going to wear a denim vest that I'd studded myself, but my house is being rewired at the moment, so I've completely lost track of where it is! But in my search I found this old pleather jacket with studs that's saved the day.

Weirdly, I prefer wearing this jacket now as a size 22 than I did as a size 18, it may have fit better back then, but I think I have a lot more confidence now.

I realised my last couple of posts have been very black heavy, so I thought I'd counter than a bit this week as Marvelous Mondays should be a bit of brighter ocassion! I've had this dress for months, but never worn it because I felt it was too dressy for college (and clean for the workshop), so its been languishing in my wardrobe, which is a shame because it is gorgeous.

Plus my newly bleached hair adds a bit of brightness too! I'll be posting pictures later this week of what my hair looks like after I dye it, what colour you ask? That's a suprise! (Unless you follow my tumblr. ;P)

I look so tired! Gosh, sorry this was the best close up I had. Haha. Yes, I am wearing spikes as well as studs with my lovely Domino Dollhouse headband, but its camouflaged by my hair a little.

Marvelous Mondays: (Faux) Leather

Welcome to the second installment of Marvelous Mondays, a weekly blog challenge between myself and three other fabulous fatshion bloggers.

This week’s theme: (Faux) Leather!

Leather Jacket ~ Vintage
Black Ruffle Top ~ George at Asda
Houndstooth Pencil Skirt ~ ASOS Curve
Galaxy Leggings ~ New Look Inspire
Velvet Creepers ~ Agyness Deyn for Dr. Marten
Bag ~ McQ by Alexander McQueen
Lipstick ~ Vamp it Up by Wet n Wild

Ok, so technically this coat is my mother's, but I took her to the shop it was in and we currently live in the sam house, so I borrow it a lot. It was a magical find, a plus size, vintage leather coat, with this much leather for under a hundred quid!

I love this week's Marvelous Monday theme! Leather is one of my favourite fashion materials, real or faux, I think its just fabulous.

Its makes me feel like a badass, I must say. I get some odd looks in the villages around where I live for having bright orange hair and wearing odd coloured lipstick, but in this I had people crossing the street! Seriously, it was hilarious because I am a huge softie.

Its also a great coat to wear over something I'm not 100% confident with yet, which is this bodycon pencil skirt. Having a big, voluminous coat made me feel a bit more confident and looking at this picture it actually looks pretty good. Who knows, maybe I'll go mad and get a bodycon dress!

My pin says "Jewellery is Life" and Jo from my class bought it for me when we were in London for an exhibit called "Unexpected Pleasures".

I would like to take a moment to gush about these shoes. I just wandered into the Manchester Dr Martens store because it was all done up and fancy, saw these were in the sale and fell in love with them all over again. I'd wanted them since they went online, but didn't have the funds. Glad I got them in store because I actually sized down in them! Very unusual, so keep that in mind if you see them on ebay, etc.

As always with my mum in charge of the camera, a silly picture! Sorry, I look so grumpy in the other pictures, but I'm just tired today. :)
