Ootd: Old Pictures of Sun, Ombre & Vintage Leather

Ombre Cable Jumper ~ Florence & Fred at Tesco's
Leather Midi Skirt ~ Vintage via Oxfam
Chunky Hoop Earrings ~ Accessorize
Ruffle Socks ~ ASOS
Creepers ~ Underground
Necklace ~ Museum
Lipstick ~ Kontrol by Illamasqua

As you may be able to tell from these pictures they were taken in the summer. The grass is not water clogged, its not visibly raining and I am not a shivering mess without a coat on. Yes, autumn has begun, but the next few outfits are going to be from summer. I don't know how I forgot about this outfit or the others I will be posting as I really love them.

One reason I am looking forward to doing outfits in autumn/winter is my eyes won't look so ridiculously small because the sun won't be so terrifyingly bright.

Also, note to self, wear these earrings more, they are badass.

My mother's photo directions are always just "Dance with the dog!". Do you think she knows I'm not 5 anymore? ;)

My ridiculous, scowly face and bitch pose may be slightly shattered by how silly Dylan looks mid leap here. I can always count on him to keep me on my toes.

Thought I'd show you the back of this skirt as I am big fan of reverse splits in skirts. Plus bonus Eccles.

Hopefully this is the start of a more even and consistent post schedule.

Are you guys into autumn/winter now its finally arrived or are you looking back at summer with nostalgia already?

OotD: New Look/Old Look

Black/White Striped Midi Skirt ~ ASOS Curve
Sheer Shirt with PU Collar ~ New Look
Black Denim Vest ~ New Look
Resin Crossbones Brooch ~ Handmade by me
Cami ~ ASOS Curve
S & A pins ~ Cath Kidston via ASOS
Chunky Hoop Earrings ~ Accessorize
Ruffle Socks ~ ASOS
Creepers ~ Underground
SOPHIE Armband ~ Illamasqua for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation

As soon as I got the shirt & vest I knew I had to make them into a kickass outfit. Originally I was going to go without the cami, I loved it, but I was hanging out with my family on this day and I felt a bit weird with my bra showing around them. :/

This is from early this summer, when it was really too hot to wear the polyester top and the vest with this, but I did it, for fashion! Haha!

Usually a big fan of this rosewood blusher, but when I had my hair dyed this bright? I don't know, is it clashy or should I just tone it down? My knowledge of make-up is so poor and blushers are probably my weakest point. I have exactly 2 of them.

This close up also gives you a shot of my pins, brooch & earrings. I am not usually a great accessoriser, but I like this look. I may customise the vest with studs on the pockets too. :)

Have you guys noticed that I like monochrome? Because it just occured to me, I bloody love black & white. With silver accents to boot.

Bonus Dylan. Obscured Eccles.

Do you repeat classic colour combinations or do you keep it fresh?

OotD: Witchy Winter Wear

Grey Longline Top ~ TK Maxx
Tiered Black Skirt ~ Next (circa a million years ago)
Grey Footless Tights ~ Falke via TK Maxx
Creepers ~ Underground
Glasses ~ KissKill
Necklace ~ Museum in Wales.

I now wish I'd put a petticoat under this skirt for extra volume, but you live and learn.

Dear Lord, I wish I wasn't pulling such a derp face in the only picture showing the composition of this top. I don't wear it enough, mainly because you have to wear either something underneath it or high waisted skirt/trousers so there's not a weird belly gap. I might sew a few more buttons or snaps further down so I can wear it as a dress.

This top and skirt always felt quite witchy to me, so maybe I should have pushed that with some dark make-up, but I was visiting friends and didn't feel like the weird looks today. Ah, well plenty of autumn and winter left in which to scare people and wear awesome outfits. ;)

Hopefully from next week I Made It Monday will be back in action as I am making things more frequently now.

Do you guys ever dress up with a character or theme in mind? I have a dress that makes me feel like a sailor, another like a pin up and one which feels really victorian steampunk. If I'm bored I like to think about outfits like this. Hope I'm not the only one!

Inspiration of the Week 1: Sir Ken Robinson "Do Schools Kill Creativity?"

Sir Ken Robinson is an educator, former university professor, author and a believer that a "one size fits all" education system is robbing our children of their creativity.

In this breath taking TED talk from 2006 he talks about education in ways I've never heard before, but have always felt. I think the way eduation works today is broken that we need to see that pushing people what we currently see as steady jobs is ludicrous. Everyone should be allowed to pursue their own dreams & work to dicover their talents whatever they may be. We have to realise that the current way we work people to pass tests and jump through hoops isn't benefiting anyone, especially not our children.

I watched this video and a few others of Sir Ken talking and was blown away. Not only is he is a hugely articulate, funny and thought provoking speaker, he also has an unwavering optimism. It is very easy in modern times to become cynical, that people are bad and horrible, but it is people like Ken Robinson who remind me that, yes, bad people exist, but they are overshadowed by the very many wonders of humanity.

I am also currently reading Sir Ken's book The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything, which I will be reviewing when I have finished it.

I'll also reccommend his follow up talk from 2010 Bring on the Learning Revolution.

How do you feel about the education system? Is it different from the general western model in your country? Have you faced problems at school due to your field being underappreciated?

I'd love to hear what you all think about this issue and my new feature. :)

OotD: What I Wore for My Birthday Celebration.

Blue Dress & Shrug ~ TK Maxx
Galaxy Leggings ~ New Look
Cross Earrings ~ ASOS
Double Zip Boots ~ Evans
Lipstick ~ You're Perfect Already by MAC

I wore this on the 9th of September, exactly a week after my birthday as my mother wasn't well on my birthday, so we decided to space a week before celebrating. As per tradition we went to Castell Deudraeth for a fancy lunch, so I chose to dress up a little.

You can't see on these pictures, but the lighter panels on the front of the dress are a fine blue/silver glitter.

I am super obsessed with this hair. My mum did the braiding as I've never braided anything before, but I just loved the idea of teasing the heck out of the front and having braids going into the back.

I cannot wait till my hair grows long enough that I can  play around with it properly. :D

Also, these leggings are my new obsession. Its taken long enough for this trend to make its way to plus size retailers.
